The Ihsan Mosque in Norwich holds a special place in British Muslim history.
Established in 1977, the Mosque is home to one of the longest-standing British Muslim communities in the UK. As the city’s Central Mosque, the Ihsan Mosque is home to a vibrant and diverse community.
The Ihsan Mosque of Norwich was the first mosque founded by Shaykh Dr. Abdalqadir as-Sufi in 1977, followed later by the building of the first mosque in Granada, Spain, since the Inquisition and subsequent to that the conversion of a Herbert Baker church into the Jumu'ah Mosque of Cape Town, South Africa.

Its Aqidah is founded on the ‘Amal of the Ahlal Madinah’ as recorded and exemplified by Imam Malik ibn Anas, being the first three generations to establish Islam for posterity.
This was the first mosque established in the UK by an indigenous community of Muslims to a city without any extant place of worship for Muslims. It has become a venue of constant gathering for, prayer, devotion, study, feeding, celebration, welcome and instruction.
Over the years it has seen many local people embrace Islam as a new and complete way of life. The community that utilises this mosque is from all over the world and regularly attends the five prayers, Jumu’ah prayer on Fridays and the two Eid prayers. It is structured around the leadership of an Amir and his council including resident Imams.
